I was playing red alert 3 tonight and I found it really lame. The graphics are kind of bad, and the unit control is horrible. I think its one of the worst games I have played as far as unit control goes. The popup message boxes were annoying and it took forever to load on my computer.

When you first boot up the game it takes quite a bit of time to even initialize direct x, then it forces you to watch the EA red alert logo graphic which is another 10-15 seconds of waiting. When you get past that screen, you are put at yet another loading screen. It takes 3 loading screens to get to the main menu, where it will most likely create a popup telling you the game needs to update if you want to play it online.

I decided to skip the update and just try to play it. Here comes the storyline, which I don't really care about. I opted to skip that as well and try to get some action going. The action was ok I guess, just not very engaging. After the first six campaigns I was bored and annoyed at the game and will probably never play it again.

I wish game companies would put a quickload option into their games. Something that allows you to turn off all the stupid load screens, and just get me online as fast as possible. After loading the game a couple of hundred times I am tired of the cute animations. I want to get online and power own noobs. So, thats my quick review of Red Alert 3. If you have bought it try to pass it off as a stocking stuffer next Christmas or re-gift it.
